Broadcast Pix Mobile Studio Brakes for IBC 2008
IBC introduction of Slate HD and 2 M/E Live Integrated Video Production Systems
Billerica, Massachusetts (August 4, 2008) Broadcast Pix™, the company
that redefined the production switcher as a live integrated production
system, will demonstrate its popular and newly expanded Slate™ switcher
line at IBC 2008 at the RAI Center in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Stand
7.H31). Broadcast Pix’s Mercedes OB (Outside Broadcast) Van, containing
a fully functional Slate live production system will be parked at the
booth.
The company also debuts at this year’s IBC, HD versions of the Slate™
switcher family and of the Slate™ 5000 switcher - the only 2/ME live
video production system. These new products were announced at NAB this
year and are already in use throughout Europe.
The Broadcast Pix OB Van is on an extensive European demonstration
tour, which includes stops in 27 countries. “Since it first hit the
road, response has been overwhelmingly positive. The van dramatically
shows how simply a mobile studio can be created with the all the power
and functionality typically found in a larger OB van," said Ken
Swanton, President of Broadcast Pix.
Broadcast Pix Slate™ 5000 switcher brings sophisticated 2 /ME
productions to a new price point. It enables a single operator or small
team to create polished live video productions far more economically
than anything previously. For less than the cost of a 2 M/E switcher
the Slate 5000 2 M/E switcher includes as standard equipment: a
multi-view monitoring system, Inscriber® CG, 60 hour clip store, and
format and aspect converters. It enables a single operator to run all
aspects of a 2 M/E live HDTV production, including complex graphics,
animations, clips and effects, as well as control robotic cameras,
audio mixers, and video servers. All Slate™ 5000 switchers come
equipped with newly enhanced redundancy systems that automatically back
up weekly, daily or even hourly. The system has redundant power for the
workstation with instantaneous auto fail-over and removable media
drives. Slate 5000 switchers are now being used by leading
broadcasters, web casters, mobile studios, universities, corporations
and governments.
Three new Slate HD models are also making their IBC debut - the Slate
100 HD, 1000 HD and 3000 HD. The model 100 includes a switcher with up
to six keyers and DVEs, multi-view monitoring, CG, and clip store. Its
hybrid I/O supports: 1080i, 720p, SD, DVI and VGA, plus analog output
in composite, Y/C and component, and can optionally add: HD and SD
analog inputs and 1080p output. Both 16:9 and 4:3 content can be mixed
while preserving the native aspect ratio of each element, and HD models
can output 16:9and 4:3 shows simultaneously. The Slate 1000 adds a
professional switcher control panel, while the Slate 3000 HD adds a
router manufactured for Broadcast Pix by Harris® Corporation, providing
up to 18 live inputs and more redundancy. Slate SD models are priced
from just $10,995, and HD models are priced from $14,400.
