Broadcast Pix Opens European Office as Company Expands Operations

Growth of international dealer network promotes cost-effective, user-friendly live production systems to Europe, Africa and the Middle East

BURLINGTON, Massachusetts (March 8, 2006) Broadcast Pix™ Inc. announces the opening of its European office as the company builds on its early successes. Since launching in 2003, numerous broadcasters and other television creators in U.S. and international markets have taken advantage of Broadcast Pix’s powerful, user-friendly live television production systems. The new three-story office, located just outside of broadcasting hot spot Amsterdam, will help satisfy growing demand of the Broadcast Pix brand through a variety of sales, support and training efforts. Since its January opening, the office has secured dealers in more than 20 countries throughout the EAME (Europe, Africa and the Middle East) territory—a sure sign of growth across the region.

The Broadcast Pix platform features built-in graphics and clip stores that are traditionally added to conventional switchers as ancillary systems. This powerful integration is particularly attractive to short-staffed studios with potential budgetary restrictions. Using Broadcast Pix systems, customers can create a spectacular, professional on-air broadcast in an extremely cost-effective manner. International markets faced with high labor rates have increasingly taken advantage of this benefit—a direct result of the opening of the Netherlands office.

“Broadcast Pix received immediate interest from international broadcasters since first exhibiting at IBC in September 2003,” said Broadcast Pix President Ken Swanton. “The continued growth of our product throughout the EAME territory in subsequent years solidified the company’s need to have a true home base overseas. The new office improves our ability to support our product in a timely manner and improve customer service to international customers, while offering a European-based training center. We believe this new office will offer tremendous growth opportunities for the company while bringing us closer to our growing international customer base.”

David Hughes, Broadcast Pix Operations Manager for EAME, will run the new European office. Hughes, a well-known veteran of the broadcast industry, has been responsible for the fast-expanding dealer network throughout the territory. In addition to the facility’s multi-station training center, Broadcast Pix studio and general offices, Hughes oversees a testing lab that provides ongoing input to the evolving Broadcast Pix product range. Prior to Broadcast Pix, Hughes managed the introduction of Grass Valley into Europe in the 1970s and built very successful European businesses Quanta/Dynatech, Colorgraphics and Ultimatte. Since 1998 he has built a large European business for Inscriber, which is the graphics system included in every Broadcast Pix system.

The new office address is Zijdstraat 72, 1431EE, Aalsmeer, Netherlands. Interested parties can contact David Hughes in the new office at 011 31 297 385 940.

About Broadcast Pix
Broadcast Pix is the leader in integrating switcher and computer technology to provide live television production systems. These are more powerful, easier to use, and much more cost effective than a traditional control room of individual components, yet retain a tactile human interface and robustness. Broadcast Pix switchers enable a single operator to create engaging live video, yet can gracefully add operators on its network when a team is still desired. It is also the first switcher that can be controlled remotely over the Internet. Broadcast Pix is based in Burlington, Massachusetts, with offices in California and Europe.
