Granite 6000

Granite 6000 HD Live Production System

Video Control Center™

Maximum Power

Broadcast Pix Granite 6000 is the largest member of our family of Video Control Centers. It features a wide full-function 2 M/E switcher panel with 24 source buttons across, to quickly harness the maximum power of a 2M/E Granite System.  Broadcast Pix provides the only 2 M/E (Mix/Effect) systems that access both video and file-based content.

2 M/E’s allows you to set up powerful looks on an M/E wholly separate from the one on which you do your main switching. You also have the power to drive a dual-screen production with full control of each, and add even more screens with auxiliary outputs. Or, produce two shows tailored to different audiences, such as one for broadcast and the other for the Internet. Broadcast Pix brings dual M/E power at a surprising price.

Like all Granite models, the Granite 6000 is a Video Control Center with an integrated switcher, clip store and CG Graphics inside. The Granite 6000 control panel sports a record 142 PixButtons™, the unique Broadcast Pix patented invention that dynamically shows sources and file names on the button, so you can switch with confidence. For a full description of Granite 6000’s capabilities, see the Benefits Tab below.

Benefits of a Granite 6000 Video Control Center

1. Integrated Control™

Capture the spontaneity that is live production, with the most flexible and powerful control center:

  • 6000 Panel switcher controls: The professional switcher layout accesses up to 24 sources directly, 32 with shift. There are controls for 6 key layers. Separate banks for each M/E with sources and transition control.
  • 6000 Panel device controls: The 6000 features twin patented banks of device controls enable you to intimately control the built-in clip store, animation store, and multiple graphics stores. Grab any clip or graphic from the PixPad. Use the 3D joystick, knobs and motion buttons. Control external devices as well, such as robotic cameras, recorders or streamers. The panel has 11 device selection buttons. With twin banks you can control two devices at once.
  • PixButtons: Broadcast Pix patented PixButtons show the device and file-name of each source and key layer, and on the PixPad. Switch with confidence.
  • Fluent-View: Enjoy the most powerful heads-up display in the industry - called Fluent-View, as it’s fluent in both video and file-based content. See 8 video sources in crisp, full motion, and the rest more slowly (or optionally add more full motion ones). See outputs for program and preview or each M/E. See file based sources and their content libraries. See each of your key layers in a window. Add clocks, counters and timers.
  • Customizable Fluent-View: Unlike ordinary multi-views, Granite’s Fluent-View is fully customizable across two monitors , or four monitors optional. See what windows you want, the size you want, where you want. Even replicate a window, like program output, on all 4 monitors.
  • Fluent Macros: The 6000 panel has a dedicated row of 24 Macro PixButtons and 8 more macros are accessible with shift, plus a dedicated macros display. Add one-button magic to your production with the only memory system that combines switcher moves with recalls of specific clips and graphics. Add cameras moves as well. Triple box interviews. Graphic transitions. It can make a novice look like a pro.
  • Virtual Sets: Easily create powerful virtual sets from green screens on up to 8 cameras, and then add 3 key layers on top. Use included sets, or use the image editor to make a virtual set out of any picture, transporting you anywhere.
  • Control External Devices: Whether you want to drive robotic cameras, a multi-format stream, an external video recorder or server, or even an audio mixer, use your control surface to reach out and touch something.
  • Fluent Watch-folders: Access new clips and graphics during a show. Whether you’re editing last-minute clips or creating quick graphics, simply drag them into a Fluent Watch Folder, and you’ll be notified of each addition right on the Fluent-View status bar.
  • Fluent Rapid CG 2 (optional): automate your CG by linking it to a database, RSS feeds and action buttons.
  • Dual Control: Use PowerAux to control a second composition on a secondary output to the Internet or to a second screen.
  • Distribute Control: While one operator can create great video, you can add seats for a special show adding a graphics operator, or additional operators on SoftPanels running on an iPad, iPhone, Android or laptop.
  • Non-Stop On-Air Control: Broadcast Pix systems are known for stability, for non-stop on air production. And if the panel should ever stop, you can still control everything on the Fluent-view or a SoftPanel.

2. Integrated Switcher + Clips Store + CG Graphics

Granite starts with a great switcher, and then seamlessly integrates a dedicated content server:
  • Integrated Production System - Granite2 M/E Switcher:  The HD switcher has 11 or 22 SDI inputs, and 6 or 12 SDI outputs, plus two DVI outputs. Each input can be 1080i, 720p or SD, and frame and aspect synchronizers are built-in. With 6 key layers and DVEs, go ahead and pile on layers of Picture-in-Picture boxes, graphics, and animations. Enjoy 2 M/E (Mix/Effect) systems to set up your next composition, have full control of a second output, or to re-enter one composition into another within a key layer.
  • Clip Store: The integrated Clip Store offers up to 120 hours of clips with audio, in H.264 or ProRes formats. Clips auto-start on transition, and can auto-advance to the next clip. Plus there are 1 or 2 channels of animations for transitions, backgrounds and moving titles.
  • Graphics: Every production needs titles. A broadcast-quality Harris Inscriber GS CG is included (Chyron Lyric PRO CG optional). Fill four channels of graphic stores from your CG, or import graphics from anywhere.
  • Device Control: Whether you want to drive your robotic cameras, your multi-format stream, an external video recorder or server, or even the audio mixer, use your control surface to reach out and touch something.
  • Low Constant Delay: Maintain lip-sync always, even projecting to live events.
  • Non-Stop On-Air: The Granite Switcher has redundant power , and redundant switching so it can still keep switching cameras even if the Granite server should ever stop.

  • Exceptional control means that fewer operators are needed to create compelling video
  • You can save over $100,000 per year over a conventional control room from savings in equipment, space, power and staffing
  • A modular family of products means it is easier to grow – you can economically upgrade to larger Broadcast Pix systems.
