The Slate 3000 is the most powerful member of the Slate family.
The Slate 3000 starts with a Slate 1000 and adds an
integrated router for more I/O and redundancy, as well as a
second channel of clip store. The routers are manufactured
by Harris for Broadcast Pix. We add software to provide
integrated fail-safe switching and display all sources on
the multi-view.

Powerful I/O
Slate 3016 is available in HD/SD or SD only and includes a
16x16 router. It provides 12 live inputs, 2 channels of clips
and 5 graphic, and has 8 auxiliary outputs for program,
preview, clips or any live input.
Slate 3032 is HD/SD or SD only. It includes a 32x32 router and can select up
to 18 of its inputs, and has 24 outputs.
Two switchers can share a central router by adding a Slate
1000 or Slate 100 to a Slate 3000 switcher. For larger
facilities, this greatly simplifies wiring, and lowers cost.
Fail-Safe and Ready for Primetime
There are other integrated ‘studio-in-a-box‘ systems on the market, but
they all lack two things which the Slate 3000 provides - a professional
control panel that is instantly familiar to switcher operators, and
fail-safe switching so you can keep switching cameras even if the workstation stops. While Broadcast Pix computers are extremely reliable,
any workstation-based system used in live TV production must be ready for
the day when its network goes down, its computer stops or something is
simply unplugged.
The Slate 3000’s control panel is connected to the router with both a
network cable and a redundant serial cable. If the computer or network
goes down — the serial control takes over and enables the operator to
continue switching cameras. The Slate 3000 also comes standard with
dual redundant power supplies for both the control panel and router that
automatically fail-over, as well as a back-up SoftPanel that can take
over all panel operations if the physical control panel should ever
fail. No other switcher has a back up softpanel or standard redundant
power supplies.
The Slate 3000 expands the single channel clip
store in the Slate 1000 to dual channel, and increases clip storage
capacity from 15 to 30 hours.
HD/SD or HD-ready
The Slate 3000 HD model is the most cost effective HD live video production studio. It is a fraction of the cost of assembling an HD control room out of an HD switcher, CG, clip store and multi-view. Slate is so well integrated the one person can run it, and yet still create compelling live television that looks like it was created by a team. Slate HD I/O includes 1080i, 720p, SD, DVI and VGA.
The Slate 3000 SD is HD-ready. Use it today in SD, with either SD SDI or analog I/O, or a combination of both. Then whenever you want to upgrade to HD in the future, you can upgrade your switcher by just changing a board, for just $4,000.
